Our tribute to Jagdip ('Jaga') [Jan 2003]

Jagdip singhIt is with deep regret that we have to inform you of the loss of one of our young players, Jagdip Singh.

Jagdip was 21 years old and contracted meningitis two weeks before Christmas. He passed away on the 3rd of January 2003 in Walsgrave Hospital.

Jagdip who was always affectionately known as 'Jaga' was interested in sports from a very young age and was encouraged by his family and especially his Uncles. Jaga was one the brightest and best young players in the Sikh Union Club. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He always had a smiling face with a cheerful personality. As a hockey player he was strong and very able, coupled with a very sportsmen like attitude. He never gave cause for complaint from either his team members or any opposition.
Off the field Jaga was again a polite lad and respectful to both young and old. He held his uncles in very high esteem.
The club members of Sikh Union are very sad to have lost a close friend and team member, but are privileged and honoured to have known Jaga as a friend and as a team member.

Sikh Union wish to pass on their deepest sympathies and regret to Jagdip's family and close friends and offer prayers to 'Pramathma' for his soul.
